A Spirit Airlines flight from Florida was damaged by gunfire en route to Haiti and diverted to the neighboring country of the Dominican Republic, the airline said.

A Spirit Airlines plane diverted to the Dominican Republic, and one crewmember was injured when it was apparently struck by gunfire while attempting to land at Toussaint Louverture International Airport in Port-au-Prince,

The move comes after a Spirit Airlines plane was hit by gunfire and had to reroute to the Dominican Republic. Haiti was cut off from the rest of the world a result of spiralling gang violence.United States aviation authorities prohibited all civilian flights to Haiti for a month on Tuesday.
